As of 2012, Cave Story Has Become a Professional Game
As of 2012, Cave Story has become a professional game. Released in 2004 for the PC, Cave Story was designed as a homage to classic games from the past such as Metroid, Castlevania, and many other classic games. It is a side scrolling platform RPG that takes place within the interior of a floating island, which is made up of several caves. The game focuses on a silent protagonist who awakens within these caves, unsure of where he is. The player character is a robot, and awakens with no memory of how he arrived there. Cave Story has simple controls, allowing basic movement, jumping, and shooting. There is a heads-up display in the top left that displays which weapon is equipped, the weapon level, and current health. After it’s release, Cave Story became popular as an indie game. It received amazing feedback for its great story and game play. Since it was so well received by critics and gamers alike, there were other versions of it made on other operating systems. The huge number of expansions that came out on Cave Story, as well as it’s amazing reception, means that Cave Story has become a professional game as of 2012.
